One Chapter, Thousands of Connections

Hi Everyone! Today I want to talk about the BNI network. We’ve got approximately 30 people in our zoom room here, which is great. But then we’ve got another 60 chapters in Manhattan. Each of those chapters have 20-90 members. Then looking outside of Manhattan, there are over 3700 chapters in the entire United States. Outside of the US there are over 10,000 chapters worldwide. When we start to think about the impact of the BNI network, it’s pretty incredible. For example, I just had a 1:1 with an agency out of the UK that only hires BNI subcontractors from all over the world. The reason for this, is because he knows that these BNI members have been vetted and interviewed by their own chapters. He knows that they are professional, committed, and know the value of networking. So being a BNI member is great within your own chapter, but there is SO much value outside of the chapter as well. Every member in BNI has a profile on BNI Connect. This profile is automatically filled out using the information from your application. But there are other fields in your profile, and if you don’t update those, they will be left blank. So it’s really important to fill out your BNI profile, because that’s how people can look up other chapter members to connect.

So when you think about BNI, don’t be limited by the people in this room. Visit other chapters in Manhattan – or around the world! Make sure your online profile is accurate and up-to-date, including ALL contact info – and make sure that info is public – there’s a setting that allows you to hide that information, so make sure that setting is not selected.

We all devote a lot of time to BNI – it’s a huge time commitment, so by visiting other chapters and making sure your online profile is complete, you can maximize your return on your membership.
